Chris Gayle has withdrawn from the Indian Premier League due to 'bubble fatigue.'
Chris Gayle of the West Indies has withdrawn out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) because to "bubble fatigue" and will instead focus on the T20 World Cup later this month.
Since the big-bucks competition started in the United Arab Emirates last month, the big-hitting 42-year-old batsman has played two out of three matches for Punjab Kings.
Gayle departed the team hotel due to "bubble fatigue" from months of playing franchise and international cricket amid the coronavirus epidemic, according to Kings.
Gayle stated that he needed to "recharge and renew my mind."
He was cited in the release as saying, "I want to refocus on assisting the West Indies in the T20 World Cup and would want to take a vacation in Dubai."
Gayle debuted the music video for his new track "Punjabi Daddy" on Wednesday, which features the self-proclaimed "Universe Boss" dressed in traditional Indian garb and swinging a leg to the infectious melody.
Because of the coronavirus, players in international cricket have frequently had to limit themselves to stringent bio-bubbles.
Even on non-match days, they are usually confined to the walls of their team hotel and are unable to socialise with anybody outside.
Some players have chosen out, such as Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, and David Warner, who all dropped out of The Hundred earlier this year.
Withdrawals have also struck the IPL, with Josh Hazlewood and Liam Livingstone both opting out for similar reasons.
Gayle's choice and "want to prepare himself for the T20 World Cup," which begins on October 17 in the UAE and Oman, was appreciated by the Kings, according to head coach Anil Kumble.
Punjab are now sixth in the eight-team IPL rankings, with a game against Kolkata Knight Riders scheduled for later on Friday.
Gayle has 193 runs at an average of 21.44 in ten matches this season.
